39th Annual Festival of the Pines

 

September 7th to September 10th, 2017 

 

The Festival of the Pines is a time honored celebration of our area Christmas tree growers and lumbering industries. The Festival kicks off on Thursday evening with The Prince & Princess of the Pines Pageant (5:30p) and also a Teen Dance for 6th to 8th graders (6:30p to 8p). Business After 5 on Friday downtown in the Food & Beverage Tent from 5-7 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, network, socialize enjoy hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and 50/50 drawings! Saturday is a day full of activities such as the Dog Show, Chili Cook Off, Lumberjack Competition, Native Plant Workshop & Sale, LIVE music Friday & Saturday night in the Food & Beverage Tent!

Presented by: The Missaukee Conservation District
Vern Stephens is a renowned expert in native species & garden design. He will be leading a Native Plant Garden Workshop, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for native plants.
Workshop fee is $5 per Missaukee County household

They are also going to offer mystery plant identification with Vicki Sawicki, Invasive Species Coordinator. If you have an oddball plant that has recently shown up in your yard or garden, we’ll help you identify what it is and help determine if it is a native, beneficial or an invasive.
