Below you will find the 2016 schedule of events and also our valued 2016 sponsors! Once the schedule is finalized, you will be able to find them at our area businesses, Michigan Welcome Centers, other Chamber's, and in the City Park Information booth during the festival, and of course at the Chamber office.

 

 

2k, 5k Run, 5k Walk, 10k Run

What a great way to start the 4th of July by running a race in Lake City. 5k Run, 5k Walk, 10k Run & Fun Run. After the race enjoy refreshments & a Fourth of July parade down main street.
COURSE: A fast, basically flat course with gentle hills through scenic woodlands and along beautiful Lake Missaukee.

REGISTRATION: Registration will take place at the City Park in downtown Lake City from 6:30 a.m. until race time on July 4th. 10K and 5K participants receive t-shirts. Pre-race pickup will be July 3rd at City Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Timing by Everal Race Mgt. using the B-Tag BIB NUMBER W/TAG MUST BE WORN TO BE SCORED.

AWARDS: Trophies will be awarded to the overall male/female 5K and 10K and 5K walk finishers. First, second and third place medals to male/female 5K, 10K and 5K walk finishers of all age groups.

AGE GROUPS: 5 Year Age groups are for both men and women and for all competitive events

RESULTS: Full results will be posted following the race at the City Building Garage, and online at www.runmichigan.com, www.everalracemgt.com. Awards will be presented after the race. Awards must be picked up the day of the race at awards presentation.

START TIMES: 2k 7:30am, 10k Run 7:45am, 5k Run 7:50am & 5k Walk 8:00am

This year’s Greatest Fourth in the
North program cover and commemorative
T-shirt was designed by Emily Schultz. Emily is the daughter of Derrick and Rose Schultz of Lake City. She graduated
from Lake City High School in May of 2016.
Emily has been a member of many sports teams throughout high
school, including the 2015 Highland Conference volleyball championship team and a member of the girls’ basketball
team. Emily also took art all four years of high school. She was an art student of Beth Thompson and Melissa Spence. Emily plans to further her education this fall at Central Michigan University.T-Shirts For Sale!******

City Park Free StageThe Lake City Area Chamber of Commerce will be giving away
a brand new Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport on Monday, July 4 at
10:15 p.m. at the City Park Free Stage. With a 3.6 Liter engine
and 6-speed automatic and has an estimated 29 MPG highway
that has made it famous. It is black with the white rally stripe
package. This year’s Camaro has a remote vehicle starter system,
20” wheels, 12 months of free OnStar that includes directions
and connections plan, automatic crash response, stolen vehicle

Thurs., June 30 - Mon., July 4In 1982 Schmidt Amusements was formed as a family business in the truest sense of the word, with Sherman at the helm and Joy taking care of the office. Both sons and a daughter have college
degrees, but all have returned to stay in the family carnival business. It started as just one carnival unit, but only two years later they created a complete second unit. Schmidt brothers, Terry and Doug became the unit managers. Their sister’s Nancy and Peggy and their husbands Larry Mardon and Tony Anderson as well as Doug’s wife, Kathy operated various support concessions. Over the years, there have been some changes, but today you’ll still find two complete Schmidt Amusement carnivals operating all season in Michigan. The Schmidt family operates their carnivals with great pride and has a goal of providing Michigan’s fairs, festivals and events with safe, clean, thrill filled fun rides, great midway food and all around fun for the whole family at affordable prices! This year you will find WUPS The Classic Hits Station as our
partner at the Greatest Fourth in the North. WUPS is a 100,000
watt radio station on a 1,000 ft. tower, serving central and northern
Michigan.
You will meet many of their on-air personalities such as Michael
J, Tammy Thompson, Mike Dawson or Carmi as they will be your
host and emcee on the City Park Free Stage all day Saturday and
Monday. They will also be announcing the Grand Parade and
have a booth set up in the downtown city park.
WUPS plays such artists music as Aerosmith the Beatles, the
Eagles, Elton John, Queen, the Rolling Stones the Who, Hall
& Oates, Journey and many more! They are very involved in
community events such as Tip Up Town, Bluegill Festival in St.
Helen, Clare County Fair, Au Sable River Canoe Marathon/
Festival, Firemen’s Memorial Festival, Otsego County Fair and
