Attention Running Enthusiasts! What a great way to start your 4th of July day! You can choose from a 5k Run, 5k Walk, 10k Run & a Fun Run! After the race enjoy refreshments & a Fourth of July parade down main street!

COURSE DESCRIPTION: A fast, basically flat course with gentle hills through scenic woodlands and along beautiful Lake Missaukee.

HOW TO REGISTER: Registration will take place at the City Park in downtown Lake City starting at 6:30 a.m. until race time on July 4th. 10K and 5K participants will receive t-shirts. Pre-race pickup will be July 3rd at The City Park downtown from 6 to 8 p.m. Timing presented by Everal Race Management using the B-Tag, please note BIB NUMBER W/TAG MUST BE WORN TO BE SCORED.

AWARDS: Trophies will be awarded to the overall male/female 5K, 10K, and 5K walk finishers. First, second and third place medals to male/female 5K, 10K and 5K walk finishers of all age groups.

AGE GROUPS: 5 Year Age groups are for both men and women and for all competitive events

RESULTS: Full results will be posted following the race at the City Building Garage (1115 W. John Street), and also online at www.runmichigan.com, www.everalracemgt.com. Awards will be presented after the race. Awards must be picked up the day of the race at awards presentation.

This year’s Greatest Fourth in the North program cover and commemorative T-shirt was designed by Madeline “Maddie” Jimenez. Maddie is the daughter of Ramiro & Jennifer Jimenez of Lake City. She is a Sophomore at Lake City High School and has been a member of the volleyball team and the District Championship basketball team.

Maddie has taken art for 2 year with Melissa Spence, and has plans to take it for her two remaining years of high school. She is thinking of pursuing a
career in either art (we can see why!) or science.

partners for The Greatest Fourth in the North! These two regional radio stations are part of The Black Diamond Broadcasting family of ten stations serving central and northern Michigan. Enjoy mixing with on-air personality favorites such as Tammy Thompson, Craig Russell from the Morning Hustle show, Steve-O or Carmi or Niki from Swap Shop as they stage host on the City Park Free Stage on Saturday & Tuesday of the festival. TERRY THOMPSON BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

This will be the 31st year that the “Greatest Fourth in the North” has hosted a beach volleyball tournament and the thirteenth year dedicated to the memory of Terry Thompson. Mr. Thompson and others were the founders & directors of this tournament. Terry, a beloved teacher at Lake City Schools as well as the volleyball coach, upper elementary principal, referee and Athletic Director. Mr. Thompson passed away in January, 2004 after a longtime battle with Cancer. Proceeds from this tournament go towards the Terry Thompson Memorial Scholarship fund. We hope you join us in honoring him and participate in the fun! You can sign up for a Co-Ed 4 person team or a Co-Ed 6 person team. Cost for the tournament is $40 per team if  you pre-register or $50 the day of the tournament. Winners of each division will receive a medal. You must check in with the tournament director starting at 9a, even if you have already registered.

Join us for this time honored tradition! The lineup begins in the circle drive of Lake City High School and no registration is required. Kids can dress up in a costume, decorate their bikes, ride skate boards, or go on roller skates, anything goes! The parade route will proceed on Russell Street across M66 to Front Street, South on Front Street to the City Park Free Stage. All forms of watercraft are welcome to join in the fun! Decorate your boat and join us for a parade around beautiful Lake Missaukee for a dusk parade. Meet us at The Lake Missaukee Sand Bar and enjoy a Root Beer Float Social and some fun games as we wait for the sun to set. At dusk we will make a circle around the lake and end at Missaukee County Park where our panel of judges will decide the winner of Best In Show with a $50 Cash Prize! Runner up is a $25 Cash Prize! There are two divisions for this contest, ages 5-12 and also ages 13-17. You can bring your own songs or use one from our host, JT’s Karaoke. This year brings back crowd favorite emcee Robbie G and is hosted by our friends at RE/MAX Land & Lakes! The contestants are judged on a scale from 1-10 in stage presence, talent and knowledge of the song for a possible 30 points from each judge. All contestants will sign a song of their choice and the judges vote the top 5 to go on. Those final 5 will sing a second song of their choice and the judges will pick the top 3 place winners in each age category. The top 3 will receive trophies and a small cash prize. The 1st place winner in each age group is then invited to perform at the Senior Competition that starts at 7p.

There are 3 chances to make it into the final karaoke contest! The first preliminary will be held at The L.C. Taphouse (formally The Hollywood Bar) on Saturday, June 17th at 7p. Then on Saturday, June 24th at The Lake City Eagles at 7p or on the day of the event (July 3) at 2p downtown on the stage. Registration for all the prelims begin one hour prior to each competition and lucky contestants will receive a golden ticket to go onto the finals. There is a $10 entry fee for all prelims and you can try out as many times as you like.

The fireworks are shot from our barge on Lake Missaukee off of Miltner Park, but, the view is pretty great from anywhere around the lake!
In case of extreme inclement weather, the fireworks will be Wednesday, July 5th at 1030p
