The Kawanis Swim Program is no longer going to be handled by the Kawanis because they have dissolved.  But many concerned citizens and organizations, including the Chamber did not want to see this program go away so there will be a Community Swim Program.  The Community Swim Program-Missaukee County Action Team is made up of people representing Missaukee County - businesses, city and county organizations, non-profits, parents and interested individuals. There are two summer sessions which run 3 weeks.  The first session will take place Monday, July 8 thru Friday July 26 and the second session will begin Monday, July 29 thru Aug. 16.  Lesson times are 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m. , 2:30 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m.  Cost is $30 for each first child and $25 for each additional child per family.  Scholarships are available if you find you cannot afford the program for all of your children. Due to the construction of the new permanent dock at the City Beach, lessons will be held at the Missaukee County Park and the park will offer free entry and parking during the time of the swim lessons.

The program is also asking if you would like to adopt a little swimmer!  Cost is $30 for each swimmer you would like to sponsor. 

Lastly the volunteers who are keeping this program afloat are having a Community Swim Program Dinner/ Auction fund raiser at the Lake City Eagles on Friday, June 21 beginning at 5 p.m.  They are looking for auction items along with financial donations. If you can help in any way it would be appreciated. Please mark your calendars and attend this Swim Program Fund raiser event!

The program for the Greatest 4th in the North are now out at area businesses, Michigan Welcome Centers and other area Chamber of Commerce or Visitor Bureaus. You can also view it on our main page of this web site. The festival t-shirts are also here!  They sell for $10 each and come in Youth Med. and Lg. and adults sizes from small to XXX, however there are only 320 shirts total! So get yours today before your size is gone!

If you are interested in supporting the festival, there are still unlimited Star Sponsorships available at $100.  For being a Star your name will be listed on a banner at the entrance to the Carnival grounds and the side of the Chamber building and in the Thank You in the Missaukee Sentinel after the celebration.  Stars support the festival in general.  We also have Sparkler Sponsorships for $100.  These sponsorships support the fireworks and you receive the same benefits. Of course any size donation is appreciated.

The 2013 Camaro is here and sitting in front of our office today!  It is a beauty.  It is Inferno Orange Metallic. Very sharp.  Tickets are now available at 3 for $10.  If you want to send a check to P.O. Box H, Lake City, MI  49651 we will fill out your tickets for you, make a copy and send it back to you along with your ticket stubs.  Just include your phone number and a self addressed stamped envelope for us to return them in.

Second prize is a Richard Petty Rookie Driving Experience, third prize is a season pass for a family of four at Merritt Speedway, including a night in the pits and T-shirts.  Fourth prize is a hand crafted doll from our very own crafter, Gene Schooley.  So get those tickets!

Our member's are also busy all year offering all you can eat pancake breakfasts, steak fries, special soup nights, burger nights, and many other activities. We try to let you know about these events in the Missaukee Sentinel Chamber Corner or Cadillac News as they get close.
