GFITN19 Official Art Design

GFITN19 Winning Design

Every year, the Chamber reaches out to our local high school art students and ask they dream up a design that they feel best encompasses our chosen theme based on a few criteria. Once completed, that artwork
is submitted to our festival committee, and from there, the designer is then selected based on their original work. We are proud to announce this year’s 2019 winner is Kaitlyn Booms. Kaitlyn is the daughter of Scott & Amy Booms. She is a senior at Lake City High School and has been a student in Melissa Spence’s Art Class for the last 4 years. Kaitlyn is also one of our Valedictorians this year, she plans to attend Kirkland Community College in the Fall and study Surgical Technology.  We asked Kaitlyn what her favorite thing about the Greatest 4th in the North is “even though I love how the 4th brings our entire community together, my favorite part is definitely the fireworks”.

Wednesday, July 4th
Everybody loves a parade and our Greatest 4th in The North
Grand Parade is a staple of our festival! This year we are happy to
welcome Q100.3 Radio Personality Jomama as our announcer!
SAFETY is always of the utmost importance when we think of the parade,
so we ask that you please make sure your children stay on or behind the street curbs.  You will want to come early, as traffic will be detoured from the parade route beginning as early as 930a.  We also ask that, unless there is an emergency, please do not drive your car across the parade route until the entire parade has ended. This can especially be a problem where the parade ends on Russell Street where all the entries will have the right away, so please be patient.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation to ensure a pleasurable experience for everyone. Rain or shine, the Grand Parade goes on! The line-up begins at 830a on Fairlane Street then proceeds to Al Moses Road and to Broadway Street.  The parade will then turn south on Main to Union, then north on Huron, ending at the east end of the High School. To get to the line-up area please use M-66 to Randall Road (next to the cemetery) then turn left onto Fairlane.

Fireworks over Lake Missaukee

Thursday, July 4th
The Lake City Area Chamber of Commerce & Night Magic Displays have put together a spectacular Fireworks display over Lake Missaukee for you this year!  The fireworks are launched from our locally & custom-built barge, which was constructed by a group of locals that love the 4th of the July!  It is because of that construction that we are able to light our fireworks off only 1,000 feet from Miltner Beach, right on M-66! We thank you all for your time and contribution over the years. The fireworks are paid for by generous contributions from our businesses, organizations, residents and visitors.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the fireworks, donations are always welcome at the Chamber office.  In case of extreme inclement weather, the rain date for the fireworks will be Friday, July 5th at dusk (around 1030p).  Thank you to Marine Solutions, the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Lake City, and our Barge Committee for all their assistance and cooperation, this really is a joined effort!
